| Our DigiLit Club gathered on Wednesday to learn about the tools they'll use to create 3D models with our soon-to-be-here Makerbot Replicator Mini printer. With many thanks to the NC Electric Cooperatives, WMS was awarded a Bright Ideas grant for using the printer and snap circuit sets with our DigiLit club. Our goal is to give students opportunity to explore their interests in the STEAM career skills: science, technology, engineering, arts and math. All students are welcomed to our monthly meetings. You just need to sign up at the media center if interested and have a ride home by 4PM. During this meeting, students explored Thingiverse and used Google Sketchup to build a 3D home. We had a club member take the initiative to teach others about his experience with Sketchup in Mr. Peeble's CTE Technology classroom. I was happy to see them working together to find creative ideas and problem solve in the program. We hope more students catch on to our fun sessions. Grab a friend and come to our next DigiLit session! Wednesday, December 17 2:30-4PM Google Hangout with Millbrook HS, who uses the Makerbot with their classes. We'll listen to their experiences and have opportunity to ask questions about the possiblilities ahead at WMS. |
